Howling at the vanishing moon - July 3rd 2009, 06:46 PM

HOWLING AT THE VANISHING MOON

Raised by wolves,
Left abandoned.

The boy stands tall,
Eyes darting, heart racing.

Every second could be his last,
Have to be resilient and have to be strong.

Caught in a world of harsh cruelties,
What was once lost can never be found.

All alone the memories rebound,
Caught in stone unable to let go.

Lying dormant deep within,
The predator locked in its cage.

Survival was the only name in this game,
Lost within the wilderness of a desolate home.

Everyone is a threat, everyone can go,
The boy stands stranded and forever alone.

Cast out by society,
Wondering what it means to be human.

In his desolate rage,
Lost within his cage.

Questioning why he was chosen,
To lead such a torturous life of questions and doubts.

Some label him a mythic hero,
Others an alien.

To the boy,
He is nothing more than a wolf without his pack.

Trying to make sense of a long forgotten past,
And a future still yet to come.

The years withering away,
Leaving more animal than man.

Ripping the flesh from these bones,
Fur protrudes and fangs are shown.

For what happens to a boy lost without a sail,
Forever coursing the jungles of life.

Without a sense of home,
How can one ever be not alone?

Left abandoned in a dangerous world,
Primal instincts have taken over.

Lost within the game of survival,
The boy has become a wolf.

--------------------------------------

I’ve always felt like I was a different species from everyone around me. It’s really hard to explain, but I’ve always felt like an alien and an observer in this strange planet. Parties for example, don’t make sense to me, and how wild some people can get. Thus, the feeling of being forever alone even with friends and my adoptive family – it is like I’ve come from a destroyed planet.

One of the things that resulted from this is being in tune with primal instincts. I always survey my surroundings and regard people with apprehension in the same way that a wolf would. I’m only in this game for my own survival and have found a way to manipulate things to going my way. I can’t lost control, that scares me. I’m the kind that can live alone as a lone wolf who would be seen as dangerous since I’ve also always been a “ticking time bomb.” The one time I’ve almost killed somebody, though to protect someone, it came so natural to me that it was scary. When I remember my past and feel everything about it – towards my father – I feel primal, outraged at times with nose flaring, using rage to fuel me, and have went lifeless with anger. It is like being a wolf – psychologically losing all touch with humanity and only sensing those instincts. It’s scary, but I’ve come to live with it – for me, it’s normal…

I think that that is kind of cool.
