***December Poetry Contest Round 2*** - December 16th 2011, 04:13 AM

Hello everyone. Now that (hopefully) everyone has seen the winners. I will post up Round 2 contestants.

Cerberus by Beetbox

Puddles by Coffee

The Sirens by Eldora

Un-named by Anonymous (You know who you are! There were only 1 of you!)

Under The Tree (I misread this as under the sea. Rofl) Mr. Gir

Cree by Craz33me

Stay by Gone Beyond Repair

Something More by Intoxicated Brutality

These are the winners of Round 1.

The way Round 2 works, I will post the poems here, every one of you will read them :3 and vote on them! I will vote too, but whoever gets the most votes win!

Please, and I sincerely ask, please make sure you vote fairly. I do not want this turning into a popularity contest, or a who has more friends contest. Please read every poem (or stop at one that you absolutely think no other one can beat) and base your vote off of what YOU like. Meaning flow, creativeness, length, and everything else. I want this to be as fair as possible.

Below are the poems that you shall read and vote for Who will be the winner!?

You can post who you voted for and why if you want, it's not needed, but you can if you want

Cerberus by Beetbox

Cerberus awaits you on the river stix he whispered
I stumbled in vain to the ticking of his heart
The heart that struggles for every beat
Cerberus smiles with my forgotten defeat.

in the concrete jungles we call our homes,
villains await masked in love
they steal our hearts, to the clocks facade
of timees long past and enemys made

tick tock, tick stop! the times not gone,
we still have hope, so please hold on
As the blood flows down the river stix, caused by blades that went too deep,
Cerberus waves his heads in glee, as hades comes to take over me.

Puddles by Coffee

Darkness puddles
beneath her eyes. Her sanity is tearing,
conscious keeping her up at night.
She asks me what is wrong or right,
pieces of her mind trying to be nailed
back together. She thanks

me. They are thank-
less. She guides them through puddles,
through the depths of their troubles that nails
them to previous lives. She tears
them from wrong, brings them to right,
to light; they leave her alone in the night.

She calls me on these late nights,
pleads to me, yanks to me. Thanks
to me, she’s calm. Right
-eous, she brushes puddles
from her sinking, tearing
eyes, and nails

posters to empty walls. Her fingernails
frow back. She tells me all is right,
all is well, before she tears
the posters off the walls. “Thanks
for nothing!” she cries, her protest words puddle
to the floor. She is right.

We’ve lost the will, the want, the right
to try to nail
schools back together, to soak up oil puddles
off sea otters, to retrieve women from their night-
ly routines. Nobody thanks
you for the right thing. So she tears

up her fliers, off her organic clothes, her tears
permantely stain her worn face. It’s time to write
her term papers, to say no thanks
to helping others, to rip up her fingernails
from conscious. To never sleep a night.
Let authenticity puddle

into lost tears on the floor. Her heart is nailed
to righteous, sleepless nights,
thankless days. Her sanity melts into silent puddles.

The Sirens by Eldora

I

The frustration is killing me;
My sorrow's rewards have hidden deep:
These words I long to speak can escape no more,
All that's left for me is an empty sail.

II
For once it seems I can't find my solace here,
Far inside my mind the monster waits for me;
I can't clear my head of these silent dreams,
For no one can hear them but myself,
And my imagination wanders freely where it's forbidden.

III
Casting about thses stones only feeds the Sirens;
Singing me toward the sharp stones with my soul as their weapon;
I'm blinded by my visions of what life should be like,
And I lose track of the sailors aboard the same ship as I,
Those who risk their life and limb to rescue me.

IV
They try to tug me back in but I tumble instead,
Headfirst toward the dark and tumultous waters that churn below,
Into the depths of the monster's mawl and closer to my doom;
Half my loyal saviors clinging to the coat that acted as no defense,
The coat that was no shield against the cold waters;
And half of those saviors are pulled in after me.

V
There is no time to weep,
For my brethren and I are swallowed whole
By the waves of sadness far below.

A butterfly flits through the yard,
Finally alighting on a bright red flower.
It snakes its long tongue down inside
And sips the flower’s sweet nectar.
The butterfly is a brilliant purple.
It sparkles in the sunlight, shimmering
a million different vibrant colors.
It’s beautiful, so full of life.
But it is a false beauty.
The butterfly is dying, won’t last long.
Choking on the brightness around it.
Fragile wings that seem so strong in sun,
crack in the wind and blow away.
The butterfly is nothing but dust.

Under the Tree by Mr. Gir

Rest Child
Under the Tree
Which bears no life

Succumb to the beauty
Succumb to the death
See pleasure in pain
And the fight of life

The Magic of the
Darkness
The Light of the
Night

Stars shine down
Through branches of air
Nothingness
Behold His smile

His grin
His tear
His laughter
His fears

King of Darkness
Princess of Night
Under the tree
Which bears no life

Cree by Craz33me

Hear my cree,
listen to me,
I'm not the person-
I seem to be.

Look in my eyes,
Don't say goodbye,
learn the truth-
behind the lies.

Read my lips,
release the whips,
feel the cold steel,
see the blood drips.

I scream and shout,
without a doubt,
no one can hear me,
no one's about.

Stay by Gone Beyond Repair

You make my skies turn gray
My darkness into day
I'm scared you'll go away
So please promise you'll stay

I'm sorry if you fear
I don't want to make you tear
I want to have you near
I just need to have you here

I want to see you happy
This probably sounds sappy
I dont want you to feel crappy
I wont try to make you snappy

You make my skies turn gray
My darkness into day
I'm scared you'll go away
So please promise you'll stay

Something More by Intoxicated Brutality

Deflect my empty memories,
Cut straight to the core of me,
You really ought not,
Yet still you try to dissect my thoughts,
Look - there are monsters in my head,
Listen - there are demons lurking under my bed,
I have no hope of escaping them,
Because it's from you they all stem,
Just leave me here with tears pouring down my cheeks,
Fears haven't been this strong in weeks,
Fell down again, nowhere left to go,
Healing had begun once, even if only slow,
Somehow you break through my defenses,
Leave me gasping, breathless,
Only trying to lend a helping hand,
Always doing the best I can,
Nothing is ever good enough for you,
With everything you put me through,
I've decided emotional retraction,
Is easier than facing the reaction,
Can't deal with it, so I'll do what you've never done before,
I'm moving on - I'll become something more

I voted when Robert first posted this (or not long after at least) but just wanted to say who I voted for.
Craz33me, I really really enjoyed your piece so I voted for you. Wonderful job.

Everyone else who submitted work, you guys all did a great job. It's impressive to see how much talent TH has. (or to at least see a small portion of it)

It really is

Honestly, it was such a toss-up for me. I'm still having trouble voting. All these pieces are pretty amazing and should all be in first place, haha. But I will vote in a few

Btw.
