Believe

This is another poem I wrote, although the formatting got really screwed up :/
Oh well, here it is anyway. Let me know what you think:


Believe

I believe in me.
Not much else

not in the power
of medicine
of doctors
of science
of religion
of God, or Allah, or Jehovah, or

anyone else
for that matter.

I don’t believe
in the healing powers of
rainbows
or
family
or
another day.

I do believe
in me
and what I can do
and what I will do

tomorrow
and the next day
and the next,

and in the smile from a stranger
or the note anonymously encouraging me
to carry on,

one more day
and to make
my dreams
my reality

and having
the strength, and
the courage
to take that step
and continue on
one more day
and see where
I take me.

I believe in me--
that I will continue on
and that I will
brighten someone’s day,
even if it’s just my own
because I am worth it

and I will read a million books, if I want
or learn a thousand songs on the piano
or finally make a good omelet that
staystogether
instead of fa l i g p

r t .

I can go
wherever I want
to Europe, to Africa, to California
whenever, to do whatever
create myself, build a village, lay in the sun

All I’m waiting on
is me
to decide,
because I can.

Believe in you.
Because I believe in me
and I believe
you can too.

The poem is very good for a person's self confidence, by the time it ended I was like, yeah I believe in me!
