[Eldora]

The shadows are playing tricks,
They're making it seem like you're walking away,
But this time I don't think the shadows play.

I hardly hear anything anymore,
But for what the shadows always say:
"You are impossible when her you allow to adore,
But I am impossible when I am far too wary."

I try to escape the shadows that hunt me,
By burying myself in joys and dreams far away,
But at night when I am plagued by dreaming,
And though I try my best to look away,
I once more see your beautiful eyes staring,
And when I wake and hide to seize the day,
It is often that I find that I am weeping.

I dry my eyes on the hands of strangers,
But as soon as I withdraw again I go to cry;
For it feels nice to indulge myself in my regret,
And let the shadows overwhelm me all day,
And into tomorrow and every day afterward,
Keeping silent to you for fear at sight.

This is a beautiful poem! I love the personification of the shadows. It gives the poem depth and feeling. Lovely! Keep writing!

I really liked the way you personified the shadows. There was so much feeling behind this poem and I loved that it made me think a little. It wasn't as clear-cut as some poems out there. I hope you share more work with us soon.
