This is a poem I wrote a year and a half before my mom died...she had been sick and I could have lost her any day, that being the reason it was written so much earlier than her death. So this is for her. Rest In Peace Mama.
Her Baby Girl Thoughts racing in my head, Vivid images I see and dread, I want to cry....AGAIN, Or else the blade's gonna win, I try to hold on for her, No tears right now, they can't see what's under, No one can see, What's going on inside of me, My heart's shattered, My faith's being bruised and battered, I'm losing the kisses on the cheek, Losing the words I long to speak, I'm losing the hand that hold mine tight, Losing the will to fight, I'm losing my hero, Losing the love, some I'll never know, All is fading in that bed, The one a woman rests her head, The bed a mother fights to live, Until one more hug and kiss she's able to give, Planted on the cheek of her baby girl, Arms around her, speaking soft as a purl, Waiting to rock her baby to sleep in her arms, Sleeping together keeping her child safe from harm, Child sleeps with her hand in her mother's, This love is like no other, I know for that baby girl is me, The mother the one soon to be free, Is the one I cry out for, Breaking, knowing soon she'll be here no more, She's growing her wings to fly, I'm losing everything in a blink of an eye, Soon the angels will begin to sing, As they fly with her to the loving King. |

Danielle,
That was such a lovely and powerful poem. You have such a way with words. That actually got me choked up reading it. You definately have quite the gift, I hope you continue to write poems and share them.
