An excerpt; to keep writing? (Novella, most likely) - January 29th 2012, 10:50 AM

It's been a while since I've written anything, and this is kind of in a different style to what I'm usually used to writing.

I'll post an excerpt, but it won't be too long. I'll be changing the writing style throughout the chapters, but not within the chapters themselves. This is about a half a page from somewhere in the middle of the first chapter.

Quote:

Tonight was different to what you can imagine.

She tapped him on the leg repeatedly, rolling over in some sort of a daze. He was asleep. She was not. She tapped him until he stirred.
He awoke. With a sigh, he asked her what she wanted.

“Can I cuddle you?” she replied.

He didn’t know what to say. He must’ve been too tired to think. He just held out his arm and tucked it behind her neck, beckoning her closer.
Placing her head on his shoulder and stretching her arm across his abdomen, she slowly curled herself around him. She rested her knee on his leg and edged her feet between his. The two of them became intertwined, boxing out the world around them, causing them to focus only on one another.

She slowly slipped away. He didn’t know what this meant. He wondered how much he cared about her. He lay awake.
He simply drew circles on her shoulder with his finger.

After a while, he faded back to sleep.

<Insert linebreak here>

He awoke at nine. The two of them had not moved - her feet still wedged between his; her arm still across his stomach; her head still cradled in his shoulder. He simply lay there, waiting. When she awoke sometime later, the two of them said nothing. They did not move. They both savoured the moment, never to be discussed again.

When he left, he simply hugged her. The two of them parted ways in utter silence. There was no awkward conversation. There was no awkward silence. It was simple; pure.
Thoughts?

That's an interesting style. I really enjoyed it; I hope you decide to share more of your work.

Nothing in the world is
the way it ought to be.
It's harsh, and cruel.

But that's why there's us - champions.
Doesn't matter where we come from,
what we've done or suffered,
or even if we make a difference.

We live as though the
world is as it should be,
to show it what it can be.
