I realize I am not a male, but I have experience in this area. It seems to be a complete personal preference thing. Personally I have never been with a guy who didn't want to have sex with me while I was menstruating. They might want to wear a condom or not have sex if it was too heavy, and there might be a lot more towels involved, but generally none of them had a problem with it. I have, however, had male friends who would not have vaginal sex with a woman while she was on her period. It just seems to squick some men out more than others. Speaking as a bisexual woman, I will also have sex with a partner on her period, but I will not perform oral sex on a woman when she is menstruating. That's just a personal preference of mine.

If you're concerned, ask your ex about it. Open communication is important in relationships, especially about sex. State the facts: you had sex once while you were menstruating, but the next time he didn't want to. Ask if there was something different about that time. If it's something that he tried and didn't like, that's okay. If it's something he'd be open to doing more of, let him know that you would be okay with having sex while you're on your period.

I haven't done it yet, but I would definitely do it and not be bothered by it. However, I'm a female who enjoys blood, so perhaps my answer is a bit skewed. I've had this discussion before on another site and the general consensus was that most guys tend not to care. They just lay down an old towel and proceed like normal.

It's possible he doesn't enjoy it. Some guys just find it kind of gross and messy, or they get squeamish about getting blood on themselves. It also could be that he just wasn't in the mood. Maybe he was stressed out or tired.

My fiancee is not at all comfortable with or keen on the idea of sex while she is on her period, so we've never done it. She tends to feel very uncomfortable generally during her period, due to the associated effects of menstruation, so all in all it would not be a pleasant experience - and to be brutally honest, it's something I've long viewed as a no-go anyway so it makes no difference to me. Others feel differently about it, as shown on here, so it does come down to personal preference. But it's something that holds no interest for me whatsoever.

I'm also not a male, but my fiancé has had sex with me before while I was still on my period. We usually don't do it, but it doesn't matter too much because I tend to be really light and he doesn't notice it much. We would probably do it again, but like I said before, we usually really don't do it.
