Porn - May 22nd 2009, 09:02 PM

Ok, I think porn is really disgusting, yet I always seem to look at it and masturbate -even though I don't like it, it turns me on.

Even at work I find myself going on to porn sites then going into the washroom to masturbate(I'm the only employee in the store when I'm looking at porn, I never do when anyone else is around)

I really want to stop, I don't like it, and I don't like myself around it, I feel dirty and I really don't want to look at it, I just cant seem to control myself.

How can I stop???

It could be that your more of a visual person and need it in order to get off. In other words it could be the act it's self that turns you on, and visualizing it in your head doesn't work for you.

You could just try using your imagination for a while and see if that helps you stay away from the porn. If that doesn't work for you then, you could try erotic literature.

You really should not look at porn at work, because many businesses monitor and have the right to monitor your web activity, and going on pornographic sites is against the rules at most businesses and is fair grounds for firing. I know this sounds not-helpful, but sometimes the only way to stop doing something inappropriate is to tell yourself that you can't do this now.

Maybe find some compromises like looking at it at home, or just thinking, or just distracting yourself with something else, like your job?

Maybe it's the taboo of porn that turns you on? That's relatively normal. But this could turn into a porn addiction, and that can ruin your sex life completely.

What is it about porn that grosses you out? Not that it's wrong of you to feel that way. I feel that way, too. What grosses me out is that I'm watching sex between two REAL people. I don't care how fake her orgasm is, it's real sex.
If that's what bothers you, you could always try ero-lit (as suggested) or drawn porn. There's a surprising amount of hand- or computer-drawn porn around, for free, online or in magazines. It's harder to find videos, but you can find still images or (not my style, but maybe yours) flash games.
That's a kind of non-privacy-invading way.
And I agree with Edna that telling yourself you're just NOT ALLOWED to watch it at work might help you break the habit altogether.

Are you struggling with lust, or just porn in particular?

Find something else to do. Whenever you get the urge, stop yourself. Splash water on yourself if necessary. Find someone else to be around if you have to. But don't let yourself give in. If you dedicate yourself to changing, and work hard to make sure that you don't do it, then you'll be able to get over it.

I swear never to be silent whenever wherever human beings are enduring suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must at that moment become the center of the universe.
