should i shave down there to improve the smell? -

i’ve noticed that my underwear gets a really weird/fishy smell after wearing it for a day. is this a hygiene issue? does shaving down there help? i’ve started having penetrative sex recently but not in my vagina, so i don’t think it’s an STI.

Do you sweat a lot? Sometimes different odors can be caused by sweating whether you're shaved or not. Maybe you can use baby wipes between showers to help combat it a little bit. But a fishy odor from your vagina can indicate infections such as BV, which doesn't have to be transmitted through sex. If the smell continues, especially if you notice it from your vagina, it may be a good idea to get checked for infections such as this just to make sure you're all clear. Most infections that cause a fishy odor can be treated with antibiotics and don't necessarily mean you're dirty. Also when you shower make sure you don't put any soap inside the vagina because that can lead to infection.

I do sweat a lot but it mainly pools in my armpits and between my breasts so I don't think that's the cause of the smell. Maybe I should get it checked out lol though I'm reluctant about it
