If they end up regretting it after then it obviously wasn't the right time or the right person then was it?
As to if you should wait for the right person or someone who you're comfortable with, I would think that these would be the same people. Rick I think what was meant is that most people she knows wait for what they THINK is the right time but in hindsight wasn't the right time at all.
And that's the key to this whole thing. I personally believe you'll only ever really know it was the right time once it's already happened and you're older and can look back on it and say "actually, I really regret that" or "I'm glad it was with him in that time and place". I personally didn't wait but I didn't rush into it either. It was a happy medium which I think is why I have no regrets. So many girls seems to place all their hopes into one guy.. that he'll be the love of their life and losing their virginity to him will be magical. When the illusion is shattered it can be really upsetting. Hence why a lot of girls are bitter about their first time. On the other side of the spectrum, some girls place no importance at all on their first time and so they lose it to who ever comes along first. Again, they look back and they wish it had been more special. I had no expectations of my first time. I didn't care for it. I actually wished you could just skip your first time and head straight to your second. At the same time, the guy I did lost my virginity to was a good guy. Smart, attractive and he cared about me a lot. He was funny and spontaneous and generous. He was a perfect guy on paper and I was very happy to have my first time with him. |

I kind of agree. I don't think you should wait for the perfect person as it can build up in your head and you may end up being disappointed or hurt. My first time was DEFINITELY not with the right person (hah!!!) but I knew that at the time, I just wanted to lose my virginity. Maybe not everyone would agree with that but I don't regret it because it was what I wanted at the time.
