Pain :( -
April 9th 2010, 01:51 PM
I've always had somewhat bad menstrual cramps but they're getting worse. I have to take three pain killers (even though you're meant to take one-two) to get any effect :/ I don't feel exactly good after the pain killers kick in either. I feel like being sick >___< It hurts like hell. It only really hurts for the first two days, after that the pain has gone completely.
I also swear I'm bleeding more than I used to :/ Doesn't certain birth control pills stop it from being so painful? I'm not having sex (I highly doubt I will anytime soon either) so I wouldn't be taking it for that. Would my doctor still give it to me to just get rid of the pain? Or will I have to lie and say I plan on having sex or whatever? Fml. ![]() |

Hey, Ceilidh =)
I think you should get it checked out by your doctor. I don't know why the cramps may be getting worse.. but it's always best to be safe. The last time I checked, doctors prescribed the pill for non-contraceptive purposes too (i.e. reducing flow, acne treatment etc.) but I'm not sure if that has changed? Ask your doctor though. Hope it works out :/ ![]() I've been seeing you in my dreams lately But you're always on the periphery, Out of reach. NEED TO VENT? CLICK HERE. Never forget, you are not alone. ♥ |

I'm going back down there soon for something else anyway. LOL he must be sick of seeing me, I'm there all the time lately
oooh I hope so! I was worried he may think I'm just being a wimp and may tell me to deal with it. Tbh whenever I say I'm in pain he automatically asks if it's to do with periods :/ so he must get this a lot.

Hi there. In my personal experience, I used to have pain like you're describing, though the pain eventually lasted 3 to 4 weeks out of the month. I had an undiagnosed uterus infection that took a couple months worth of anti-biotics to get rid of. Please go see your doctor!

yea you should see your doctor. if its just cramps he would probably give you the pill for it. just beware...the pill can have some craaaazy side effects so you might have to go back and switch to a different type a few times before finding one that works or you may just decide its not worth it. sorry i had some back experiences so i thought i should warn you =P

I used to have excrutiating cramps, like I'd be rolling around on the floor not being able to get up. I told my GP, and now I'm on the pill. I think that's what you should do, go on the pill. Otherwise, keep taking painkillers, and vitamin tablets calm it down too, and Indian Tonic water, and hot water bottles. Hang in there. X .

yeah i have a very close friend that had to go on the pill for her cramps and her acne. shes not sxualy active and they know that, i dont even know if they were concerned about that aspect of it as much as stopping the pain. but they prescribed it to her

Exercising and making sure you eat well for the entire month are good ways to try and keep cramps away. Some women don't get enough calcium, magnesium or other nutrients. Some eat too much salt/drink too much caffeine near the time for menstruation. Different herbs in tea or supplement form including raspberry leaf (it has to be the leaf), crampbark, black cohosh and others can help with bleeding and cramps. These methods were used before traditional painkillers were around. Eating bananas or other potassium rich foods have been known to help cramps.
