Prozac and Libido -
October 1st 2010, 05:50 PM
Since starting on Prozac, I have almost no sexual appetite, and it's driving me nuts! I don't really know how to explain it; I want to have sex/wank, but I can't. Any way around this?
PS. I'm a womyn, not a boy. myspace.com/lonesome_fish for poetry. I like feedback sometimes. And I like smiley faces

See, as another guy who's on antidepressants, I really know how you feel. How long has it been though since you started, since you'll find in about 1-2 months max, the worst of it will be gone and you'll have your libido back.
If after, say, a month you don't feel any improvement, mention it to your doctor. Every anti-derpressant messes up your libido a wee bit, according to my doctor when I asked him about it, but there might be some that do less so than others. Also, try not to stress about it, since sometimes feeling self-conscious about it can make you feel anxious which makes you lose it more which makes you stress about it which makes you feel self-conscious and etcetera ad infinitum ad nauseum. Also, I feel classy I ended that with a whole barrage of latin, go me >.> ![]() "My one desire is for peace -- peace for everyone" |

Terrific, and thanks, but I'm a lady. I've been on it for I'd say 6 months.

It's a common side effect with most anti-depressants, but if it's still affecting you after six months and it's causing you issues or problems, the best thing would be to talk to your doctor about it. That way they may be able to change your medication or offer some other form of help.

Don't worry, happens to a lot of people on anti-depressants. As Special Circumstances said, it'll come back after your body adjusts to the medication. Just keep trying, and if it doesn't change, talk to the doctor. Seriously, though, don't give up right away. I thought mine would never come back, and then one night it just did. Sometimes it takes a little while.
