Female Advice Preferred: Period depression

I'm on period (it's only like my fifth one) and I am so depression, my piano teacher was playing Memory form CATS for me and I almost cried. I just feel..absence of happiness, and on edge and just emotional...is this normal?

Well, I think it's pretty normal to be really overemotional when on you're period. I know I get like that every time. However, I already have depression, so I'm not sure if that counts...

i get super depressed sometimes. like crying over nothing and stuff like that. the only thing ive found that really helps (besides chocolate hehehe) is pamprin multi-symptom. it doesnt totally knock it out, but it makes it liveable

It's absolutely normal for one to be over emotional whilst on their periods.

Of course every girl is different and will experience things while on their period. It's not a huge deal so, no worries

I'm sorry you feel like this, but maybe after a few months of it you'll be able to cope with the emotions a bit more! It's totally normal and could happen each time you get your period, it's just your hormones going a bit crazy!

The best thing you can do is try to keep yourself relaxed, and pamper yourself a little bit. It'll boost your mood right up and you'll feel a lot better.

I am actually on a medication to help with break-through depression near my period. It doesn't happen every month, and it is happening less frequently now, but for a year in the days before my period I would curl up into a ball and start crying uncontrollably at nothing. It was pretty bad. Don't worry; it's normal.

Lots of girls experience mood swings when it is around, or time for their period. thats another thing of PMS. Hope you feel better soon.

I've been having periods for almost five years and I get over-emotional every month. Have you ever seen the Dogs Trust adverts with the 'abused dogs' telling their storys? It reduces me to floods of tears every period - it's perfectly normal to find yourself crying at something petty.

i get overly emotional around my period too. the silliest little things can make me cry or angry or sad. oh the joys of being a woman. (=

Oh yes sweetie its normal. I used to get like that all the time. Nothing made me happy, I cried at almost everything.
That was until I was put on birthcontrol. I didn't get like that unless I was having an extremely weird period. But I am not on birth control anymore and I just had my first period off of it and I totally forgot what it was like to feel like that.

Even if it is only your fifth period, I would talk to your mom and even your doctor. Im not saying to go and ask to be put on birth control, but I would ask your mom and if she doesn't know make an appointment to see if there is anything to help you so your not so depressed on your period.
