What's wrong with my vagina? - December 4th 2010, 06:57 AM

Well the other day, my boyfriend and I got a new lube (Wet platinum) since the one we were using ran out. We tried it, sex was good, and we went to bed. the next day, at some point, not right when I woke up but later in the day, I noticed my vagina felt really weird. It felt like a mixture of having to pee, being itchy, and being a little turned on. I tried itching it, thinking it was just a weird itch and it went away for a minute but then it came back. I went to the bathroom and it went away. I get bladder infections now and then when I don't pee right after sex but it doesn't feel the same as THAT "gotta pee" feeling does.

It doesn't hurt and it smells normal, there's no discharge or anything like that. It's been a few days and it isn't going away. At first I thought maybe i had a delayed allergic reaction to the lube. I put some on my inner arm as a test and went to bed with it there but it didn't irritate or anything.

Another thing is yesterday I decided to take a hand mirror and take a look down there. It wasn't red or anything but it did look like...sorta like the first half inch of the inside of my vagina was kinda poking out. It felt very similar to that part too and I was able to push it in but it doesn't stay in. It doesn't hurt at all to do that but it's not comfortable the way it is.

I took a mirror to it again today and took another look and it looks like it went in a little bit more so it's not out as much but it still feels like it is. It's also a little more red in color but that could be because the pants I wore to work chafed and now the area DOES hurt but I know it's because of the chafing since it happens every time I wear this pair of pants. The labia is also pretty dark but I've seen it that dark before in the past when I had a cold and right now I might be risking getting the flu (my boyfriend AND my brother have it right now).

Could this just be a delayed/prolonged/weird allergic reaction to the lube? We haven't had sex since that night so the lube hasn't been used.

I'm going to see a gyno (I haven't been to one before so I'm scared so I gotta find one) if it's still like this by next week but in the meantime, what could it be? Is there anything I can do to make it feel better?

But all in all it's not uncomfortable aside from the weird gottapee/itch feeling. I put my fingers inside to feel it around and what not and it didn't hurt or feel odd or anything.

God, what's wrong? it's kinda scaring me. Could it just be a weird kinda bladder infection? I didn't pee like normal after we had sex that time either, I was too tired. I've also been drinking a lot of soda since then too. Should I drink a ton of cranberry juice and hope for the best?

I'd go to the gyno as soon as you can. If it's potentionally going to go away on its own, then it will anyway, no harm done by seeing the gyno, if its not, its best to deal with in now. And take the lube with you, maybe the ingredients will give the gyno a clue.

Yeah I was thinking of it. I definitely have a feeling the lube has sooomething to do with it since it's a weird feeling lube compared to what we're used to using. I won't be able to make an appointment until monday since it's the weekend so I'm just going to keep tabs on it until then.

Did you wash after the lubey sex? It could be that it was 'left on' during the night and it just irritated you.

Ask your gyno, they know everything

hey, i have this problem where i can't use lubes with glycerin in it because it gives me a reaction or urinary tract infection. its because the ones with glycerican are made with sugar and some people are sensative to it.

dont worry too much....it doesn't sound like an infection, more like a allergic reaction or sensitivity....

if it starts to smell different, change in colour ( although the redness could be due to the itchiness) becomes swollen or change in temperature (the vagina feels warmer/hotter than normal) then you should most definitely get it checked out by your gyno as thats usually the symptoms of an infection

but seeing as the symptoms have been for a few days, i would still recommend going to the gyno anyway just to check everything's fine...

hopes that helps you in some way...

As things have been there for a few days, I think you should definitely go get it checked out.

I know with one lube (cant remember what it was), it made me feel sore and uncomfortable down there..luckily it went pretty quickly.

Hope you get it sorted and you are not uncomfortable for too much longer.

Don't worry about this. It's nothing serious I'm sure. It's good you are going to the gyno, make sure to go do that as soon as you can, and they can tell you what it is.
But from the sounds of it, your vagina could have been sensitive to the lubricant and something in it may have irritated your vagina. You could have had an allergic reaction to it since you switched to this one just recently, and this is the first time you've used this lubricant. Don't use it again.
You tried it on your armpit as you said, but your vagina is more sensitive skin than your armpit, so it would have had a bigger effect on your vagina instead of any other areas of your body. I'm sure you'll be fine, the gyno will probably prescribe something to make it go away. Let us know how things go!
