Period while on birth control?

I took 2 packs of birth control back to back because I was going to go on vacation and I didn't want my period to start. However, my period started WHILE I was on the second pack. I finished the last pack on Sunday and currently not taking any for this week but I still have my period..?? (Overall, my period has been going on for about a week and a half). Sometimes it's spotting and sometimes it's like a normal flow.

I know that I should go see the doctor but the way my schedule is, it's very difficult at the moment. (plus, he's been on vacation a lot ever since I got back from my vacation)

What's going on?

PS: I also want to say that I've never had any problems with my BC. Only once before did I take two packs back to back but that was because I forgot to wait one week.. and there were no problems.

Your body was in a regular routine, and even when you took the pills, it kept going as scheduled.
It's normal, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. You might still want to talk to your doctor when he gets back, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. The same type of thing has happened to me.

Its also Common to have spotting especially when starting BC for the first time or a new type. Don't stop taking it, but do mention it to your doctor when you see him next.

Ive had this happen many times and It was usually like a light period and only lasted a few days on average. There is not set length for this though. It could be anything from a little bit to a normal period. Just keep taking the pills and your body should get used to it and regulate properly in time!
