Hey guys. I have a question. Concerning skipping a period while you're on the pill.
So, first of all, is this possible? Like, can you actually skip your period? I know some girls skip/miss periods due to diet change, excessive exercise, etc. But, can you actually control it? I'm on Levlan ED, by the way. The active pills are a beige colour and the non-active pills are white. I know that the white pills are basically just sugar pills, but I've been told that taking them makes you have your period. So, does that mean, if you don't take the white pills, you will skip or miss your period? If anyone knows, and can answer, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Mia x |

It is possible to delay your period if you continue taking the pill, but I'm not sure entirely how advisable it is. I know my mum used to do it when she had exams, but that was on a doctor's reccomendation. f there's a specific reason why you want to miss a period, than I'd cinsult a doctor before trying anything. If you just want to know if it's possible, then I think the answer's yes.

Hello,
Not taking the white pill, or sugar pill, doesn't make you skip your period. There is no active 'ingredients' in them, therefore it doesn't keep your period away, it makes it come for that month. If you wanted to skip a period, at the end of the beige pills, you would ignore the white pills and begin a new pack of Levlan ED pills, beginning with the first beige pill in the package. I'm not sure how advisable this is, as it can be very dangerous and should only be done with a doctors recommendation. |

From what my doctor has told me, it's fine to miss up to three periods, but then you need to take a week off. The pill is simply hormones that prevents your period from coming, and the other a sugar pill. I'm not sure whether this is correct or not, however it's worth reading here.

Hi Mia
If you wanted to skip a period, you would skip the non-active pills and go straight onto a new packet. It may be worth consulting your doctor first though |

Yeah, like they've said above, to skip a period, miss out the sugar pills and start the beige ones straight away. But this can be dangerous and lead to permanently messing up your cycle. There shouldn't be too much to worry about if you just miss it once, but don't make it a habit

The people who posted above are technically right. If you want to skip your period, then skipping the sugar pills and starting a new pack instead is the way to do it. However, there is no guarantee that will actually work the way you want it to. I've found that when I skip my period like that, I usually end up spotting for the whole following month, which is quite annoying. It shouldn't be harmful to skip the sugar pills, but you might experience some annoying side-effects. Just thought I should warn you.
