Period issues -
August 7th 2011, 12:58 AM
My sister recently ran out of birth control pills, and hasn't has the time to go to the pharmacy and get some new ones, but wasn't worried about it, so she's been off them for about a week. The problem is...her period never started. At all. It was her time of month, and it just never started. She is not sexually active, so I don't think it's anything to do with a pregnancy.
I assume this is normal, because of the hormones coming out of her body, and to add, she's been very stressed out by her job. With these two factors, I assume she shouldn't worry. However, I wanted to ask just to make sure. And just letting you guys know, this is like, my favorite forum on here. I feel like I post too much on here, but it's just because you guys are so super awesome, and I feel very comfortable discussing anything. And thanks for any advice!

Yup you're right, when coming off of BC pills your body has to ajust your hormone levels back to normal. So it can take a while for a period. My mum came of BC to have my brother years ago, and she didn't have one for 4 months ... tell your sister not to worry too much, it'll come. If she wants reassurance she can always go to a doctor and they can double check there's nothing else causing it

You do not post too much at all! (:
When I got off of my BC it took a little while for me to start mine too, it's just stuff to do with the hormones, it's nothing to worry about! <3 "yes maddie you are way better than "that great" you are amazing and sweet and i love you so much" <3

When I had run out of birth control, and couldn't get to my doctor within a few weeks, I always got my period, but of course, everyone is different. My situation would be completely different than hers. However, I did experience some breast tenderness when I was off birth control for a while. It wasn't comfortable, and made wearing a bra extremely difficult, much like pregnancy breast tenderness. Just make sure she is aware that if her period doesn't start soon, or doesn't come at all, to see a doctor or to get a second opinion. It's always best to be safer than sorry.
