Spotting or period?

I'm currently on my fourth week of my birth control pill. I'm on Generic Yaz. I've been having some bleeding the last few days. It's light, but I have had some cramps along with it. Is this spotting or my period? How do I distinguish the difference?

If you've been bleeding for a few days now and are experiencing cramping on the inactive pills, it may very well be your period!
If you aren't expecting your period and experience sudden bleeding, that would be spotting.

Well which pills have you been taking? I take the same birth control. The regular pills are pink & the ones that cause your period are white. I know for some people, it doesn't even their period out right away, but you could probably use this as a guideline. It sounds like your period though, just really light. Birth control pills make predictable & more light periods.

I'm actually on my third week of pills lol.
My third week is still pink pills. My period has never been regular so I never know when to "expect" it.
It seems like a period, but I thought period were supposed to happen on the white pills.

Yeah, before I started birth control, my periods were always irregular as well. But once I started the pill, I got my period right on time, but I guess that's not how it is for everyone. I wouldn't worry about it, since it should even out after a few months. I've been on the pill for maybe five to six months now & I always get my period after taking the third white pill, but when I first started taking it, I got it after the first pill. It just takes time for the pills to run their course.
