It's most likely normal. It really just depends on your body. I started when I was 9, where many of my classmates started later at 12, 15, and some even at 18. So I wouldn't worry about it just yet

If you are really concerned ask your doctor or school nurse.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

If possible, ask your mom when she got hers. If she got hers later, you'll probably get yours later as well. & Don't worry! I didn't get my period until I was 14 (freshman year of high school). You're actually very lucky not to have it yet.

Everyone is different. My mom and I got ours when we were young. I think we were around the same age.

But, my boyfriend's mother didn't get her's until she hit high school at 15, and his sister, who is 12, has yet to get hers.

It just depends on the person. Right now, it's normal.

This is totally normal. everyone's different. are you really petite? cause that can make it take longer. I'd say don't worry about it. In fact, i would enjoy it while you can. periods are a pain!

it's totally normal, and unless you're planning on having kids soon, I wouldn't worry about it. I got mine when I was 13, but my cousin didn't get hers until she was almost 19. Everyone's different, so don't sweat it

I got mine when I was 11, my mom got her's when she was 12 or 13 I believe. Many girls come in different years so don't worry! Trust me, they are NO fun at all, you'll be wanting to go back a few years before it even happened! Have fun while you can.

It's normal to not have it by 14.
Consider yourself lucky actually.

Your period does not mean that you are childish. It just means your body isn't ready. That's all.
Also, it doesn't affect how developed you are or aren't.

I think you are fine to have not gotten your period yet. Everyone else here seems to think the same. So I'd suggest that "everyone" who is saying this needs to learn a bit more before they go judging others.

Just remember you are who you are. Be proud of it. Be happy you don't have to deal with cramps and bleeding and odor and tampons/pads. It sucks, frankly. Bearable, but sucks. So laugh when they say that, because you are the one who is lucky.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

Re: no period - September 8th 2011, 10:20 AM

Certainly not weird You can start from 8-16, some start even later!!!

WANNA KNOW A SECRET???

I'm 17, 18 this december. My period didn't arrive until LAST WEEK!

The 2 year after breast development thing is just an average. I've been developing breasts, getting discharge and hair in unmentionable places since 13! The only thing I noticed before starting my period was more dsiccharge for a few months before. BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, us ladies start when our body is ready Not having a period does not affects how 'grown up' you are. Physically you ma be young but mentally that can be differant

PM me if you still wanna chat? I went through all the worries too

And gosh yeah! I allready want them gone!!!!! LOL

Trust me, when you get yours you will not want it anymore. It causes cramps, mood swings, and you just feel kinda.. off for a few days.
Like others have said, it doesn't make you childish and it will come soon. Lots of girls don't get their's for a while.
Maybe they're calling you childish because they're jealous you don't have to deal with it?

MOST girls start theirs between 10 and 16 and some even later than that. It's perfectly normal. Try to ignore the teasing what they're saying isn't true and you'll get it eventually. I also doubt it will cause problems later if and when you want children. You'll have it by then and it would only be concerning if it was irregular while you were trying to get pregnant. Most of the time it's irregular to begin with anyway. I started mine at 11 and it wasn't regular until last year.

Well, having a baby at 14 is just a really bad idea.

But when it comes to your period, I didn't get mine until I was 15, so it's not abnormal for you to not have yours yet.

You think you really want them until you start getting them and then you want them to go away. Other than talking to your doctor about it (and they'll probably tell you not to worry yet anyway) There isn't anything you can do about it.

There is nothing you have done wrong, nothing you do will alter the time you get your period. And even though your mum and nan got theirs before their teens doesn't guarantee anything. Your genetics from your dad could be what is causing it to be after you became a teen. Either way, it will come eventually all you can really do is wait and enjoy not having to deal with them.

Well once you have it, every month you have to try and figure out when it's going to come so you can be prepared. Plus you have to change your pad/tampon every 4-6 hours which is a real pain when you are out of the house.
If you just ignore them teasing you they will stop. Just don't bring it up and they will forget soon. I promise you they are most likely jealous that you don't have to deal with it like they do.

Re: no period - September 10th 2011, 08:46 AM

I got mine when I was nearly 13 and my mum got hers at 15.
I have a friend who didn't get hers until she was 17.
It can vary from 9 to around 16 so enjoy not having one while you can! Don't try to grow up so fast! I miss being 14-16 sometimes, being 19 is so much responsibility and hard work!
Periods aren't flash. I have one now and my day has been full of cramps and feeling icky. Wouldn't wish it on anyone really.

Re: no period - September 10th 2011, 04:15 PM

I'll be brutally honest with you.

Periods are crap. You may think you want it, but you don't. Or as soon as you get it, you'll wish you never did. It causes cramps and ickiness and leaking during school is one of the most embarrassing experiences of my life. They don't usually come at the same time every month, so for a couple of weeks out of every month, you'll be like "oh no, it's going to come today. No? Today. It must come today. Hold on, it's been over a month since my last one. There must be something wrong? Oh. There it is."

It's really not a pleasant experience.

There is nothing you're doing wrong, and there's nothing you can do to make it come faster. You just have to wait. It's not unusual to not get it until you're in your late teens.

As for the bullying - I'm sorry, but why does everyone know you've not started yet? You don't have to go round telling everyone. Or just tell everyone you've started. Nobody's going to check...

How do all the girls know you havent started yet? :S If its something people discuss a lot, just say you have it. I know lying isnt usually a good thing, but who cares. Its not going to hurt anyone if you say you have your period :P

Relax!! <3 Even though they have their periods, its completely normal. I got mine at 12, but my mother got hers at almost 17. Once you grow up, and you reach about 20, you'll say periods are a pain in the ass. Some women suffer terrible pains, and unfortunately i am one of them. But you'll wish you didnt get them later :P But dont worry for now.
