Amoxicillin making birth control less effective?

I've been on Amoxicillin since last Friday, when I got my wisdom teeth out. I'm just wondering if it makes my birth control work less? Or am I still okay to have sex on the pill? I know there aren't any experts really on this site, I'm just wondering from experience or from what people have said. My mom said it might make my birth control less effective, but the pharmacist didn't say anything.

Most antibiotics do effect birth control. I just use a condom as well as birth control when I am on antibiotics because different brands have different effects and it is just easier to use a condom when on any antibiotics.

By the way, if the pill is less effective at the time I'm taking my meds, should I still take it anyways? Also, does it really matter what time I take it at if it's less effective?

Continue taking your pill as directed, and at the same time each day. When your done with the Amoxicillin, it will take some time before it's effective, but continue taking it so you don't get your cycle and system out of whack. If you hav sex, make sure you use a condom or some other form of contraception as well to keep away any pregnancy mishaps.

Most antibiotics make birth control less effective. You should keep taking your pill as directed because changing the schedule would still have the same effects as it would if you weren't on antibiotics and you'd have to fix it later. The only change you should make is to use a back up method if you plan on having sex.
