period pain - November 24th 2011, 05:56 PM

Hey my name is Ebony, I started my period about 2 years ago! The first year was no trouble at all! Second year, my stomach felt like it was going to explode and I thought this must be period pain.. Now it's been another 9 months or so, it bloody hurts more and more! Any good advice on what to do? Generally my periods are heavy and I do loose A LOT of blood. Thanks for the help x

Hey Ebony

Period pains are horrible but there are types of painkillers you can take that make them more bearable - paracetamol, ibuprofen, etc. Just check the label and don't take more than you're supposed to.

Or there's the contraceptive pill that can regulate periods and make them less heavy. You can take it even if you're not having sex.

You could even get a heat pack that soothes period pains and cramps, but that can be quite expensive. Or use a hot water bottle Whatever's best for you.

Take care.

Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year.

It's perfectly fine to be a happy individual.

Take off at the speed of sound...

For period pains, I take pain relievers such as Midal or Ibuprofen.

As for blood loss, you should take iron pills to make sure you don't pass out or anything due to lack of iron. I had this problem in high school & I just about fainted a few times.

If it continues to be a big problem, see a doctor. You may want to start birth control to even out your periods.
