HELP HOW DO I TELL MY PARENTS I GOT MY PERIOD?

dammit i was going to the toilet and my discharge was bright red. I think ive got my period but how do i tell my mom? I don't feel like going like 'hey mom i got my period' cos its kinda embarassing and yeah pls HELP

i think you should just tell her privately at some decent time. like just try saying it indirectly. most probably she will understand. and it's really nothing to be embarrassed about, but that's just my opinion.

You could ask her if you could go to the store with her to buy some 'lady items'? Saying it like that will let her know exactly what is going on. Also, mums are FANTASTIC at knowing when their child has started their periods. It's like a sixth sense All the best!

Mums are terrible with telling people! I think my mums side of the family knew before my dad did. It's nothing embarrassing though, even if she does tell people. It's natural, and us girls get it. As for telling her, you could just tell her in private some how. For me it didn't quite go like that because I panicked even though I knew what it was, but it's nothing massive. It's just nature, so all you have to do is maybe talk to her in private or something. Good luck.

heh *sniffle* thanks alot all of you *Glomps* I'll have to sorta 'bribe'her into not telling ppl then... tomorrow is PE with cross country. Dammit! maybe I should just fake a note to the PE teacher that i twisted my ankle falling down some stairs, LOL.
oh, and idk why ppl wanna get big bewbs and have their periods at an earlier age becuz ive been dreading it since i knew about it

Chances are it'll not be as bad as you think it'll be! Maybe ask her if she could lend you some girlie stuff until you get sorted or if you prefer, you can come out and say it directly. Just maybe try and make sure the two of you are alone.

Haha, my mum's not told anyone! I don't know why they would?
All you need to remember is that it is a perfectly natural part of life. When I started, I just had a bit of dried blood in my underwear at the end of the day. I just got my mum on her own and showed her the underwear. She was dead excited haha :')

Telling your mom won't be as hard as you think. Remember, she's a female too and at one point, she had to tell HER mom that she had gotten her first period as well. You can't put this off forever. You'll need the proper feminine care products in order to care for your period. Tell her quietly, and privately, and ask her if she has any of those feminine care products for you to use.

lol, I remember having this problem :') Maybe instead of coming straight out with it ask her if she could get you some "supplies". OR if you already have some leave the box/packet somewhere she would notice. Maybe it would be less awkward for you if she was the one to bring it up?

Just be blunt & say you got your period. It's only awkward if you make it awkward.

As long as you have some pads or tampons you don't have to tell her right away if you don't want to, but trust me this isn't that big a deal. It's not like she isn't expecting it and almost every girl will get theirs at some point, it's nothing to be embarrassed about.

I got mine out of the blue while I was with my DAD!! Now that's awkward I hid it for 2 days and told my mom when I got home (I WOULD NOT do that), but he did freak out when I eventually told him.

Just ask your mom not to tell people if you don't want everyone knowing, but there's no guarantee that she won't, you can't really control that. It shouldn't interfere with PE unless your cramps are really bad, but they can be controlled and they usually only last a few days.

I agree with Kate it's not a big deal and I had that same problem. My mom wasn't there when I started only my dad an my sisters were. I told my older sister and we were both like 'how can you get your period so young?!' but hey it happens. And looking back I was only 11 but its a lot to go through at 11 when you moms not there to talk to. I had to wait 2 days to tell my mom that I got my period. I just kind of said it bluntly 'mom I got my Period' it actually isn't as akward as it seems. Also my sister was always by my side even when I told my mom. So if you have a sister or maybe a really close friend that could be with you? I found that that helped out a LOT!

My friend's mom found out before mine did. xD I have two older sisters, who were both obviously on theirs when mine started, so we had pads and tampons already. I didn't tell my mother really, she just noticed that the pads were disappearing at a new time of the month. =P My dad found out when I went to the doctors and they asked if I've started yet, his face turned beat red. xD

I got mine when I was 11 and I hadn't had the talk yet and I literally went to mother crying cuz I thot I was dying. Id just say it to her straight and just be like he mom I got my period. Then drop it. If u need any help you can PM me. Good luck!

Oh and also try not to be scared about boobs. Everybody (that's a girl) gets them eventually some just earlier than others. I was the awkward nine year old with a bra. But it's all good now.

Tell her yourself, I remember sitting in the doctors office when I was 15 and my mom finding out from the doctor that I had been getting it for 2 years already and man was that like the new definition of awkward.
