Bumps and STI - January 4th 2012, 12:00 PM

Okay I have a question. I'm very serious when I'm asking this. Okay, when someone swallows semen and if the guy has an STI can you contract it? Another question; that same semen that you swallow has an STI in it, does it cause bumps in your vagina (STI).

If you swallow semen, and that person is infected with an STD or STI, yes it can be contracted. However, it would not affect the vagina seeing as you swallowed it. You'd still be putting yourself at risk for an STI/STD though, so I'd know your partner and ask them if they've been tested before in the past.

Yes, it is possible to catch an STI, and even if you do not swallow, by giving oral sex without a condom, you are putting yourself at risk. Because of precum or things catching in your mouth before you spit, it really doesn't matter whether you swallow or not. You can still catch something.

I don't think so. Not to accuse you of having this condition, but remember that bumps on your vagina can actually mean a lot of things. Shaving bumps, a rash, anything. Also remember that if he has bumps in his mouth, if he has given you oral sex, that can cause it as well. But there had to have been contact between the parts.

Oral sex can not give you STI symptoms on your vagina. Oral sex can carry STIs, ejaculation or not, but it has lower transmission for some of the STIs than penetrative sex. The risk of HIV is very low. There isn't much data, but they don't really think you can get chlamydia in your throat, however they do know you can get gnorrhea. Usually there are no symptoms, and it clears up on its own, but if you have had an encounter where you do not know the STI status of a guy, or even if he claims to be tested and clean, its worth going and getting tested if you can. Ask for throat swabs. there are a few other things, like herpes & Syphilis (though this is a blood test, and you need to wait about 6 weeks I think for it to show). Here are a few links, they have slightly varying opinions, but I think that tends to be because nothing is 100%, and also choice of wording. But you might find them helpful.

Though I want to mention, other than say HIV and maybe syphilis, the cum and precum aren't really the things causing the infections.... the tissue of the penis would be carrying most STIs, not precum. Its like kissing someone with oral herpes can give you herpes, not because of saliva, but the infection is in the tissue. And other than for a herpes infection, oral STIs are in the throat, so its less likely to transmit STIs during a male giving a woman oral sex, as there is a distance. Whereas with a blowjob has the organ in the mouth.
