Hi there!

Usually, depending on the type of pill your on, protection begins anywhere between the second and fourth week of taking the pill. I've heard conflicting stories in the past: my doctor told me a month, while my friends doctor told her two weeks, however...we are on two different types of pills and that might have something to do with it.

Since you've already started your second month, I think it's safe to say you're protected. However, if using only one form of birth control is going to cause you stress, I'd suggest using condoms as a back up form of protection. Not only does it help protect against pregnancy, it will also protect you from STD's which birth control does not. Remember: stress is a leading factor in why periods can come late, early or not at all, which will only cause more worry and fear for you. Condoms can help put that thought into the back of your mind.

I'm on Yaz and you should be still using a condom until you've kept up taking the pill regularly for at least 3 months. It takes three months for it to regulate your cycle and all that good stuff. At least that is what my doctor told me.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.
How much you can take, and keep moving forward.
PM me if you need to talk about ANYTHING.

I would just like to add that your birth control should have come with a little booklet explaining when to take the pill, when you're considered protected, etc. That usually answers a lot of questions as well.

I'm on Yaz, and I've heard it's over the three month period as well, but as Barbara said, check the booklet. I would also recommend you use a condom anyway. Yaz is fabulous, but does not protect against STIs, and also with even the smallest of human error there can still be pregnancy.
