Just Checking - April 7th 2012, 10:56 PM

Hi, just been wondering something....

Today I lost my virginity (to my boyfriend) but we didn't use a condom, or the pill.... He didn't cum inside of me or anything but I just wanna check...is there any chance I could be pregnant?

Anytime you have sex, there is ALWAYS a chance of pregnancy. Not using a condom or birth control actually makes the chances higher. If you're worrying or thinking you might be pregnant, take a pregnancy test according to the instructions that come with it. If you just had sex today, you can even take the morning after pill which can prevent pregnancy, however, this is not a contraceptive & should not be used every time you have sex. Only for emergencies.

You could try free clinics in your area, and if England has access to them, you could always try Planned Parenthood. They can give you birth control for free, and if not, it's on a sliding fee scale. OR, you could just go with condoms. There is no age limit for them, and you can purchase without your parents knowledge.

You probably aren't pregnant. They didn't mention this before, but if he didn't cum inside of you then you probably aren't pregnant. If he ejaculated around the vaginal area and he fingered you and pushed some in, then there is a slight chance that you could get pregnant. If you become too worried, then 10-14 days after sex you should be able to take a pregnancy test to calm your nerves.

Go to the planned parenthood site and read up on contraceptives.
It's not unusual to lose your virginity unprotected and use pull-out, but it's not the best way. There's very little chance you'll get pregnant if he didn't cum inside you, if he didn't ejaculate before he penetrated you. It's dangerous, though. If the boy waits too long there's a danger of his spilling some semen in you as his orgasm starts so he has to pull out before he even gets close. It takes a lot of discipline to do that and some guys haven't got it. Use a condom next time.

And go get some birth control.

What just happened?

Possibly, but I doubt it. Back and stomach pains could be linked to ANYTHING. It could be because you're nervous about what happened, or it could be your period making it's journey to you. Honestly, it's very hard to say considering we're not medical professionals. Take something for the pain and wait it out.

Re: Just Checking - April 8th 2012, 06:06 PM

The pain may be sexual related as pains after losing your virginity are common in women. Even after a haitius of sexual activity women can feel similair pain.

It's too early for you to be able to feel the effects or pregnancy as the sperm cells have likely not entered an egg yet (if sperm entered you at all, that is.)

Having sex without a condom is foolish, especially your first time. He may have had an STD, or impregnated you.

As other users have mentioned condom, and birth control is a great combination to help keep you healthy.

Re: Just Checking - April 10th 2012, 07:03 AM

If you got your period, then you're fine. However, as others have said, in the UK getting birth control is much cheaper than it is here, so I would really recommend you do that. I'm going to go over a few corrections to some things people made.
  • Just because he doesn't cum in you does not mean you're fine. It's alot lower of a chance, but precum can carry cum (although it doesn't naturally have it in itself) and if he cums near you, some can still get inside of you. Plus you were not safe at all from STIs.
  • The morning after pill should only be used in emergencies, however, what Barbara said is a little off. The morning after pill normally works as a contraceptive, not as an abortion pill or anything of that sort. The Morning After can work as both a preventative measure (if contraceptive had not happened, by causing the uterine lining to fall) or as a birth control method if there had already been a contraception. The morning after pill IS safe, it's just not that pleasant, and not recommended for multiple use.
  • No matter what, use a condom. Alwaysalwaysalways.
For more contraception ideas, check out our Methods of Contraception thread.
