Question ? about periods - April 18th 2012, 06:30 PM

Does anyone else get really depressed when you're on your period? I know there's lot of hormone changes. Just curious if anyone else gets like this...

My period doesn't really affect my mood, but I know tons of girls with major mood swings.

I get very irritable and emotional at the start of my period. Usually anything will set me off!

I'm just grouchy, I don't get depressed. I get really bad pains which nothing seems to help, despite numerous doctors visits. So yeah. Nobody talks to me for the first few days.

I sometimes get a bit more emotional, wouldn't say depressed though but I guess with the hormones and what not, it's possible that it could effect your mood and make you feel low.

I have gotten depressed through my period before, but I'm not sure if it was my period or the fact that I was generally just depressed. I get really pissed off easily on my period.

I've said it once, I've said it twice, I've said it a thousand fucking times
That I'm OK, that I'm fine, that it's all just in my mind
But this has got the best of me, and I can't seem to sleep

Yes, I am always depressed when I am on my period. That's like the only thing that happens to me. I don't get cramps or anything.

I can be moody, like I'll get mad cause something fell out of my cupboard or something or I'll be really on edge or kinda just bleghhhh feeling (like no energy), I know another friend who would get VERY depressed, and I have other friends who eat EVERYTHING, and I know some people who turn into the hulk (sorry, i read that in a post higher up and thought it was a pretty good description) lol

I'm moody anyway, so I don't know about me.
I know that some of my friends get extremely scary though. You say one thing wrong, and you'll be bitched at for the rest of the day.

I will be generous with my love today. I will sprinkle compliments and uplifting words everywhere I go. I will do this knowing that my words are like seeds and when they fall on fertile soil, a reflection of those seeds will grow into something greater.

I'm a really emotional person to begin with but it's a lot worse for sure when I'm on my period because I get mad faster too.

Usually I end up lying on the couch not wanting to do anything and when I have to move I'm irritable enough to want to kick whoever I see.

Perfect description of my mother, however she has something not right with her lady parts so her periods get really really bad, there are times when i have to help her because she is in so much pain. but i digress. My best friend on her period gets extremely depressed to the point that we have almost committed her to a hospital because of what she was saying. so I guess my point is that for every woman a period is different. I wouldn't worry too much if this is recurring for you, just keep a careful watch over your moods and if it gets too much make sure that you contact a doctor, something could be seriously wrong.

Well, I'm emotional most of the time () so I wouldn't know the difference but yeah, I do become irritable.

I get angry, mostly. Like, to the point of yelling at my partner. A lot. Part of the reason I'm on birth control is my unstable moods during my period, actually. I'm one of thooose girls.
