Question Legal side of 15 and pregnant - October 10th 2013, 02:01 PM

Me again guys, Sorry to keep posting... I just want to know what you guys have to say as i cant find anything online... Do social services automatically get involved in the pregnancy if the woman is under 16. So i am 15 and pregnant, I am just about to start making arrangements and things with the doctor.. I only found out a few days ago... I know one woman who was 15 when she got pregnant and the social services werent involved at all. But alot of people seem to think that they do get involved with like all underage pregnancies. Help please? x

Your doctor will be able to tell you all about your local laws and regulations. So I would save that question for your first prenatal appointment. Have you already called to make an appointment? That's the most important thing you need to do right now.

It will depend heavily on the state where you live. Since the person you know didn't have to deal with social services, you probably wont either.

Edit: Here is a link for minnesota. Your state's services may be different.

It depends on a lot of factors including your state. A referral to social services is not necessary a bad thing. It can include helping to set you up with services such as WIC, food stamps, medicaid for the baby, work training programs, etc. It can also help to assess that you do indeed have a safe place to live and can identify resources to help you live well.

I am guessing you live in England and I am not that familiar with their laws.
