Pregnant and have a cold. - September 29th 2009, 02:48 AM

Everyone I've personally asked about this hasn't given me an answer.
So I have this like really nasty cold.
And i'm 9 weeks pregnant.
I need to know if there is anything I can take to make this better?
I've always thought your not supposed to take any over the counter medication.
Or do I just have to grin and bear it?

I hope that womb's not too warm
cause it's cold out here
and it'll be quite a shock
to breathe this air
to discover loss
so I'd like to make some changes
before you arrive
so when your new eyes meet mine
they won't see any lies
just love.

I guess it depends on what symptoms you're having. I was told by my doctor that it was okay to take any kind of Tylenol. I was also given the OK to take Sudafed and Robitussin DM. I used them during my pregnancy and my son is fine.

You should definitely talk to your doctor before taking anything. Tylenol is OK, but I would definitely get an OK from the doc before taking anything else. Best of luck, hope you start feeling better soon!

FYI: I just grinned and beared it, it wasn't too bad.

my doctor let me take sudafed. But i suggest asking your doctor. It all really depends on how your pregnancy is going.

You need to ask your doctor, most doctors wont suggest taking anything for a cold and to just wait it out.

I personally chose to take absulely nothing through both of my pregnancies because I was nervous. Definitely call your doctors office, they'll tell you whats safe.

Oh god ive just recovered from a cold and it lasted far too long then it should of had but my midwife only recommended paracetamol like 1 every 4 hours, if paracetamol doesn't work then its grin and bare it with lots of rest :] Hope it helps x

yeah they always tell you just to get rest...and it's not really the easiest when you have a baby inside...I had a 2 yr old at the same time so rest was never an option lol. Hopefully you start feeling better
