abortion. - July 23rd 2010, 11:38 PM

i dont know for definite that i'm pregnant yet but lets just assume i am so i can get all the information i need if i amactually pregnant. i was sort of forced into sex (i didn't exactly say no but i was not sober enough to make a decision and i know i didnt really want to) but thats a different story for a different day...

i would not abort a baby if i could help it but when i have children i want the father to be involved, and i know for a fact he would not want to be part of the childs life, and i want enough money to bring it up properly and get rid of my mental health problems first.

ive had a few symptoms like brown discharge and a bit of blood and my boobs are swollen (im pretty sure its not a period because mine are VERY irregular and i only get a few a year)

how would i go about getting an abortion in the UK? i have no idea about where to go or anything and im absolutely terrifed, i heard that if its under 9 weeks you can get a pill instead of having a surgical abortion (which i REALLY dont want to have because im scared of anything like operations), is this availible in the UK cause i havent seen anything on the NHS website about it?

also another question, when should i take a test because like i said my periods are very irregular. its been almost 3 weeks since this happened. is that long enough to take a test or shall i wait longer?

you can take the test now- it takes like five days to register. i'm in the US but the pill you're talking about sounds like the "morning after" pill so i don't think that's true. ask your regular doctor but before you start worrying, take the test. it's harder to get pregnant when you're drunk also because you're not sober enough to be turned on and i'm pretty sure you have to really be into the sex to get pregnant.

hey i'm kinda in the same boat - but only in the idea of not being sure if i'm pregnant... i live in the US so its a bit different i'm assuming but you dont want the morning after pill... if you wanted that its Plan B and that should have been taken within 72 hours of having sex... i think one of the things about taking a test is after 7-14 days of when you had sex.. your right about the name of the abortion pill... i think after 7 weeks they suggest having a surgical abortion because the pill might be painful.. ive been reading up on this like crazy but you take one pill with the doctor and either 1-4 pills orally or inserted within 72 hours after the first.. you have a hardcore period, ive read easy stories and horror stories :-/ i wish us both luck!

Pregnancy=semen in vagina. That is all it takes. It helps if you're very turned on--when you orgasm, the walls of the vagina contract and help "pull" the sperm in--however, it is not absolutely necessary. Hence why we see pregnancies from rape or from obviously passionless sexual relationships.

Yeah NO. You don't even need to have sex to get pregnant in some cases. If your partner ejaculates near you down there and some gets on you down there, you could get pregnant. So please know that your statement is incorrect and never tell anyone that because that's a dangerous thing to be wrong about.

I'll try and remember the name of the clinic that i was refered to when my ex tried to get me to abort but currently can't. If you go to your doctor they will be able to refer you to the clinic.
If you choose to have the pill then you have to have three apointments well 4 as you would have your initial consultation and then the next appointment you would take the first pill which stops the hormones to the baby and then the next you would have a pill inserted inside of you which would bring about the actual termination of the pregnancy it's similar to a misscarriage however what i've heard that it can be painfull. At the final appointment they will offer you counselling and then they would check that the baby has been terminated.
If you were to opt for surgical that would be two appointments the consultation and then the actual termination which you would spend the day there the actual termination would take 5-10 mins and you would be under anesthetic for the termination you would then be offered counselling and then sent home.
Both cause heavy bleeding and there are advantage and disadvantages with both. However i would suggest talking to your doctor as this is information I was told.

I hope this helps and if you need to talk just send me a pm

Take care

Well, the first step would be to get an appointment with your primary care specialist (I think it's called a GP) and get a pregnancy test. I'd tell them that your periods are irregular so they would decide whether to do a urine or a blood test. The GP can also give you the information about how to go about attaining an abortion. If you are buying a test yourself, I think it's usually four weeks after sexual intercourse or the first missed period.

Another consideration is also to get a STD test because discharge could be a sign of an STD or an infection.

It does appear that some sites talk about the abortion pill in the UK, but it would be better to talk to your doctor about it.

Test may not be accurate and it takes more than five days after sexual intercourse to register as the zygote may not have implanted by that point. The abortion pill is not the morning after pill and the manufacture of the morning after pill claims it does not cause abortions. The abortion pill is sold in a black box and some pharmacies do not stock it at all (although I think some states require them to tell the woman where the nearest one with it is.) I am not sure about the pharmacy policies in the UK.

RU486 is the name of the abortion pill and I don't know the Morning After Pill (I think there have been a few formulas used for the morning after pills. I want to say there are three and they are trying to get another one approved.)
