Is there a chance I could be pregnant? - October 30th 2010, 02:09 PM

Okay, so last night my boyfriend and I had sex for the first time. It was my first time ever, but not his. Anyways, we were on his couch in the basement and it was dark. He slipped a condom on and it took a numerous amount of tries to get "it" in. He eventually came but I'm pretty sure he pulled out before doing so but here's where it gets tricky. He had slid down and told me to put my pants back on but when I did I noticed there was some "stuff" on the couch and the condom looked like it was...sideways? I don't know it just didn't look right. I pulled my pants up but I noticed that he had came on the outside of my jeans (by the zipper) and then on the outside of my underwear. I still put them on and it felt a little wet "down there."

So now, of course, the question, am I pregnant? comes to mind. Is there any chance this could make me pregnant and how long would it take for me to have to take a pregnancy test before I'd get accurate results? I'm kind of freaking out.

There's a slight possibility, but I don't think it's likely. If you're worried, you've still got time to take the 'morning after' pill. A pregnancy test should be pretty accurate from as early as two weeks.

Hey there,

With this sort of situation there is always going to be a possibility of pregnancy. But I think in this case there is only a small possibility. Although the condom looked like it wasn't on straight, that could have just been because of what happened when he removed his penis from you. I understand that there was semen in a lot of places, so I would be concerned and a lot careful next time.

I would suggest waiting until your next period to see if it comes, if not, take a pregnancy test.

Take care.

Okay, you guys just gave me some huge relief, even though there's still a possibility. Seeing the words "small" are sooo comforting right now. Starting Thursday i had some brown discharge which usually means I'll be starting my period soon and I had it even worse this morning so i'm pretty sure that's a good indication my period is still coming.

But is it too early to tell? Like, if I get my period tomorrow is it only because I have been conceived yet?

If you get your period tomorrow, it should mean that you aren't pregnant =)

Even if you were, you shouldn't be getting nausea the very next day xD

Even though ovulation times aren't an exact science since every woman's menstrual cycle is different, it's nearly impossible for you to be pregnant if you had sex yesterday and then got your period tomorrow. Typically you ovulate two weeks before you get your period. Meaning, two weeks before menstruation, an egg is released for fertilization. Sperm can live (but majority don't) in your body for a few days, that's why you have a fertile period before ovulation. The egg can really only be fertilized in about a 12-24 hour window before it dies.

ANNNND, if you think about it: there are millions of sperm in an ejaculation. Many are weak and won't survive, and your cervical mucus can be acidic and kill some at certain stages of your cycle. Then of the hundreds (think of that, MILLIONS to HUNDREDS) that may be capable of making their way to your fallopian tubes, must be strong enough still to break through your egg's membrane.

So take a deep breath. Although it only takes ONE sperm to make a baby, think of all the other factors that are on your side.

I'm actually due to start my period in about a week or two but it's just the discharge I started having thursday through today usually means I'm going to start early. It's heavier today and much darker so I'm pretty sure it means I'll get my period sometime this upcoming week. Plus, i'm really tired, moody, and have back pain so yeah. :P
