Exclamation Anyone else have this happen XD - March 3rd 2011, 08:57 PM

Anyway I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks and became 3 cm dilated, they were able to stop it and then at 33 weeks in went in to labor aging this time the contractions stopped on there own and i didn't make any change. Then a few weeks ago when i got checked i was 3 cm and %50 effaced. then this past Monday i was 4 cm and %50. Last night I went in for labor pains aging ( i am now 37w) and i went from 4 to 5cm and %80 effaced. I stopped making and change so they sent me home. I have had every sign of labor except my water breaking how much long can I be pregnant for i mean really I am 5cm and %80 thinned out (effaced) . Anyway i just wanted to know if anyone else had walked around at 5cm and %80 and if so for how long this is driving me mad.

I went through almost the exact same thing sweetie, I walked around for almost 3 weeks 5 cm and 60% effaced before the doctor saw that my blood pressure was sky rocketing so he induced me, so it's possible, hope all goes well with you and the rest of your pregnancy<3

as long as you're not experiancing anything out of the norm you're okay, uncomfortable yes but okay. The second something doesn't feel right make sure you get yourself in, sometimes you can go into labour without your water breaking. If your stomach starts to feel hard or you can't feel your baby moving anymore you need to go in.

I have contractions a lot and i go and out of labor all the time. I know that my water doesn't have to break for me to go in to labor , i think only about 15% of women have that as a sign of labor

I have a friend who is going through this right now.
You can be pregnant for up to 40+ weeks, but doctor's usually induce you now if you go passed your due date.

But you are only 37 weeks? You are dilating on your own effacing on your own, your amniotic sac is intact...what is the point of inducing early? Just curious. 9lb baby isn't actually all that big and u/s can be wrong when drs try to guess size.

Not trying to offend or anything, I am just honestly curious at your drs reasoning for inducing you early.

I will be 39 weeks this Friday . Since my girl was over 9lbs at birth and he messaging big as well they do not want me to go to my do date. When i gave birth to my girl i tore a nevier in my back/pelvis. I still have no feeling in the inside of my right leg. I had to re learn how to walk after i had her. I was going to get and x-ray to make sure nothing was broken after they determined that there was in issue, but two days before i was to go in to get it done i found out i was pregnant.( so i never had it done) becaues of the issues i had with my girl and the issues with my leg they want to induced me. Also being induced lets me almost insure that i will have my doctor there.

He wanted me to have him before now even.

Walk by yourself?
I walked around the hospital before being induced alone because hubby had gone home to get some things. (we weren't planning on being induced but had to because of complications)
Walk around your house for a few hours

Masturbate. The main thing is to get an orgasm anyways
Nipple stimulation
and do you have a dog? or get some headphones and walk by yourself!

I'd do some research on nipple stimulation before trying it.

I'm not sure how true it is, but I've heard it can bring on strong and potentially dangerous contractions. Supposedly it really does help jump start labor though!

It can bring on strong contractions, HOWEVER if your body is not ready to go into labor, the contractions stop when you stop tweaking your nips. If you ARE ready to go into labor, the strong contractions are replaced with normal contractions. The only way they are dangerous is if you don't stop messing with your nipples once the contractions start! lol. The idea is to just "jump start" them. Seeing as she is 5cm already, I would bet she is having contractions here and there, just not realizing they are more than braxton hicks. A long and drawn out easy labor, makes for a quick "active" labor usually.
But I do agree, before trying ANYTHING that anyone (including myself, and drs) suggest, I always reccommend doing your own research

I have tried alittle bit of everything nothing works. I don't like walking by my self becaues i get light head and i don't want to pass out some were, also i only have time to walk at night so it is safer to walk in pairs not alone.

Do you have a mall anywhere close to you? Maybe walk around there and window shop while you are at it! Go get a pedicure! There are pressure points on your foot that supposedly can bring on contractions, as well as accupuncture and accupressure. Aromatherapy, chiropractor, and have a nice long talk with your baby, all of those have proven helpful. Best of luck to you.

You always seem to know your stuff Amber so I figured if I quoted you you'd be able to elaborate for me, so thanks
I did some research about nipple stimulation during my 1st pregnancy and couldn't find the info you gave, only that it could potentially be bad! lol
So good to know for the next time around.

OP, good luck on your induction tomorrow!

No Problem!
And Thanks! Having been through three pregnancies (one birth) leads to a bunch of research on my part! I like to be educated on what I am going through, what my baby is going through and potential side effects of anything anyone suggests to me. lol. I am a birth knowledge junkie I would love to be a DEM/Lay midwife one day but I am not a fan of the idea of ALWAYS being on call. Maybe once I am done having babies/my babies are grown
