Boy or Girl? - February 19th 2010, 10:54 PM

I sort of have a problem, I'm 15 years old, male (Hetrosexual). I'm asking this because I need advice. Recently, I've been thinking about how it would be to dress up as a woman. Thus, making me a transexual.

It's just telling my mother and father (who have always been very supportive of me and everything I've done) I don't know how to go about it. What should I do? I've been looking at wigs on Ebay, I've also been secretly trying on some of my sisters make up.

I do know that this is something I atleast want to try. If not forever, trying couldn't possibly hurt could it? I'd really appreciate any advice.

Dressing up as a girl doesn't make you a transexual, if it's just done once or twice it doesn't really make you a cross dresser, just curious.

If you're wanting a wig, look for something in your natural hair colour so it's not such a shock to you when you try it on, and it's also a colour that should suit you naturally.

For makeup, keep it subtle (I know I'm not really one to say that tbh) and avoid anything too elaborate.

Trying it won't hurt, just see what's comfortable to you (: Keep us informed, won't you? Hope this helped x

Thanks Suzzi. But could telling them I just want to explore an easier option? Since I'm not entirely sure I'd want to stay that way. I got confused with the names of things, transexual. I think I meant Transvestite :S But oh well. I know I could never get rid of my penis. and If I did decide to be considered a woman, I would deffinitely be lesbian. I understand your a male - Female cross dresser?

No, I'm transgendered.
Well, it's up to you to work things out really. You're fifteen, you have time to experiment and find something that fits you and makes you comfortable. Remember, nothing is set in stone at this point (Y) x

Even though I know close to nothing on these kind of subjects, I agree with Suzie here.

I don't think you really need to group yourself into a label whether that's transsexual, transgender, transvestite, crossdresser, whatever you want to call it. If it's something you're curious about, then by all means try it! It's always fun to pretend to be something or someone else, that’s why so many people are in Drama club or want to be actors. A little different than wondering what it'd be like to be a women, but it's a tad similar eh?

When you tell your parents, simply sit them down and explain that at this point you're just curious as to what it'd be like, and that they should support your decisions. They sound like pretty supportive parents though, so no worries.

Good luck!

Try on all the clothes and pick the gender you look best in. Lol. If you are a really pretty girl then go for it, If you look better as a guy then... You get the point.

Hmmmm, I disagree with that. Dress in a way to make you comfortable, and to match your personality, pay no attention to perceived ideas of 'prettiness' etc, people who value them that much probably aren't the sorts of people worth hanging round with anyway. For example, I sure as hell don't make a pretty girl but I dress in a way that suits my personality, and I don't really care what the more ignorant people think of that. ++ nobody would recognise me if I started dressing like a guy all of a sudden...

I agree dont go on looks. You should go on what makes you feel comfortable. really whos to say you make a pretty girl or not? no one really its all on you, and what you feel is right.
I somewhat know how you feel here
i am a female that dresses like and acts like a guy
altho i have not had the guts to come out to my parents as transgendered because i know they will flip, but one day i hope to.
I think your best bet is to be honest and tell them your curious.

hope it helps

Thanks for the advice guys. I wont be basing my final choice on whether or not I look and feel good as a female or male. What if I feel and look good as both?

Then by all means, be who you feel like being according to that day. One day, you might wake up and decide "I'm gonna be girly today!" Then do so! If the next day you feel like acting more like a man, then do that as well. Play around with both for awhile until you decide for certain. You have plenty of time to decide anyway.

That sounds like a good idea. Like, I like dressing up and stuff, obviously I feel more glamorous as a female. But there are some aspects of being male that I like. For instance, I wouldn't be able to go to the gym to do weights and stuff. Well, I could, but I always thought girls with six packs and bulging muscles were a bit strange. (Hopefully I didnt give offense to anyone there, if so, apologies).

If it means anything, I always felt really REALLY out of place doing weights in gym in school when we had to in class... so you maybe you'd identify more as genderqueer? x

I think I'll have to research on Gender Queer. I know this is a bit of a weird request. But I've added photos on my profile of me as a girl. I'd like to know what you think, like, Do I make a convincing girl? Or am I clearly a man? I'm really conscious. Still haven't told my mum yet. Uncle is staying with us and he's not very well. I dont think now would be a very good time.

Your hair looks proper nice but I think you overdid the makeup a little (Again, I'm not really one to make that comment...) but I reckon you really could make a pretty girl (:
It's not immediately obvious you're a guy, but with a little more subtle makeup it'd be much harder to tell (Y)

I think those pictures pass for female. My only advice would be to tone down the blusher and the eyeshadow because they are bit over the top

I think you look good. The only advice I would give you is to tone down the make-up. Make-up, in my opinion, is supposed to enhance the face and the way you are doing it is kind of overpowering it. People are going to focus more on the amount of make-up then on your features. Wear eyeshadow that makes your eyes pop and if you go for lipstick go for a more natural color. I mean, it can be pretty and colorful but something that isn't over the top would be best. As for blush, I don't really need to wear any because I have a natural 'blush' but I think toning that down a bit would be good too. Just put a light dab on your cheekbones.

As for the whole female/male thing; I think you should definitely wait before labeling yourself. You might just be curious or maybe there are times you want to be more 'feminine' either way you don't have to know right away. I have found that when a person tries to label themselves prematurely it causes a lot of stress. Just go through life and do what makes you happy and somewhere along the way you will figure things out.

Best of luck,

Jenna

There could never be amore beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguisesandhoops they make you jump through
You were made tofill a purposethat only you could do
So there could never be amore beautiful you
-Johnny Diaz

Everyday
is so wonderful
And suddenly it's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain, I feel so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Tryin' hard to fill the emptiness, the piece is gone
Left the puzzle undone, ain't that the way it is?

'Cause you are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down, oh no
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today
