My School is wanting to start a GSA (Gay Strait Alliance)

Hey,

My school wants to start a GSA (Gay Straight alliance) and i was wondering if anyone knows of any ways in which they should start it out.
It's I think going to be a branch of there diversity center which is slowly growing, it started last year I think and they have a diversity class.
Two students in my grade joined the club for the diversity Center today, they brought the idea to the club and earlier in the week the principal who okayed it, it was my second time at a club meetting and I told my classmates I would try and help do some research on ideas in which to start the club. I suggested they start the club out small and then as word got out they made the club larger as more people heard about it.
In our school there is a lot of bullying or harassment against people that are gay/lesbian/bi.
I think it would be a good idea to start the club but I just can't really think of any ideas, I am going to do the research i said I would for them but i was wondering if anyone here has any input on what we should/shouldn't do.

I think a good way to start the club, and spread awareness about it is first put up fliers around the school with a meeting place and a set time and see who actually shows up to the first meeting to see for starters how many people are interested. It might help to post that it is a SAFE place to open up about their sexuality. In addition, another good thing to do is to have a bake sale or fundraiser to raise awareness about GSA.

Oh, I didn't see the sticky on this, I just found it. If anyone would like to add ideas, suggestions, do's or don'ts or anything you can still add them. We are extremely new to this so we don't know anything about starting the club.
