Cool Do you ever feel like you're the only one feeling this way? - February 27th 2011, 04:43 AM

I'm 13 years old, and I'm pretty confident that I'm a lesbian. All I think about is girls, and I have no interest in guys at all. I'm still "in the closet". I live in a community of religious people, and I feel like I'm the only one in my entire school that has feelings for girls. All my friends claim to be straight and most of them find homosexuality to be "disgusting and weird." There are a few people that act kind of bisexual/lesbian, but they say they're straight. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever met a lesbian/gay in person, in my entire life.
I love the fact that I like girls, but I'm usually disappointed, because most of the girls I have a crush on are straight. Is there anyway I could find out if someone is gay/bi? I know there probably isn't a better way than to ask, but that might freak them out and send out wrong messages. I don't know. :/

Well if you are gonna be goin to a public highschool, then odds are you will find more ppl like that there. I know my bro is always talking about gay guys/ girls at his highschool. I use to go to a christian hs tho and there was only 1 (openly) bi person there.

The best way to find out is to bring it up in a conversation and see how they respond. You don't have to necessarily come out, but if they make a comment about it being "disgusting or weird", then make sure they know that you're okay with it. Odds are, a lot of people are feeling the same way you are and might just say it's disgusting because either they are uncomfortable or unsure.. or they don't want anyone to find out or think they are gay.

This way, you don't have to straight out say "I like girls, guys!" but more or less like "I think there's nothing wrong with it and I'm an ally" and whatnot. Unless you're totally okay with telling people you are, it's best to indirectly bring it up. And maybe there will be that one girl or guy who is lgbt, and maybe he or she knows other people or a place where you can find 'em.
