Gender Identity Disorder? -

Today my friend told me that he has Gender Identity Disorder, and I was pretty much wondering what a person who has this would go through on a daily basis, whether emotion-wise or physically or anything. Does anyone know anything about Gender Identity Disorder? I just want to understand it better. Thanks.

The term "Gender identity disorder" has been hijacked by the right wing fundies to mean gay or lesbian, attempting to categorize them as suffering from insanity and capable of being treated, so be careful what the person who says that means.

I was going to say, I do not think this is use in the modern DSM, but don't quote me on this.
 I thought that this is not just considered being transgendered, which is not a disorder. It's just a different state of being than the "normal",

The best thing I can recommend is to talk to your friend about it. Chances are they'll be relieved to have someone to talk to about it, and it will help you get a better understanding of it too.
