He makes things awkward

So there's this boy at school that has decided I'm his friend. I feel bad because he doesn't have many friends and everyone else makes fun of him so I try to be the bigger person and make him feel better. He told me the other day that he was gay.
Since then it's been awkward though. He still hangs ALL over me and today he was reaching to my lap for my phone and trying to put his hand in my pocket. I, as nicely as possible trying not to make him feel bad, told him to please stop. He kept hanging all over me and I've had other people ask if we're dating. Honestly that creeps me out. I wouldn't ever want to date him but I don't want to be a bad friend and just tell them that he's gay. After all it's his secret he can choose who to tell.
The other thing I've found awkward though is he's more feminine and I'm way more tom-boyish. He tries to bring all his drama and gossip to me, and to be perfectly honest I have no problem being there for him as a friend but it's starting to get to the point where he's telling me about all these guys he thinks are hot. I don't know what to do about any of this... I don't want to hurt his feelings but he's making me really uncomfortable .-.

*shrugs* just tell him your uncomfortable, the truth is always better than lies. But make it clear that your not uncomfortable about him being gay, just the hanging onto you and telling you about all his cute guys.

thank you! I'll try something like that. He's a little what I guess people call slow though I guess you'd say... I don't want him to take it the wrong way. I just don't want him acting not-gay to me so to speak. I feel really mean for wording it that way but I'm just really weird-ed out cuz this is the third school quarter I'm having to deal with it.

You're dealing with someone who has not developed social skills and seems to have self esteem issues. It's ok for you to set the limits on what you're comfortable with him doing and not, and in no uncertain terms. I think he may even be happier with that. Gay teens have a tough time and it's commendable of you to be as much of a friend as you can be, but not to your own detriment. Be supportive but firm and tell him what you don't want to hear and experience.

^^ Yea... Um, maybe you could say your uncomforatble with him all over you? -I'd be the same way if someone started being my friend (another social outcast LGBT kid...)
