Is Pansexual within the LGBT range?

So I changed my sexullity I went from Bisexual to Pansexual. And 45% of my friends are in the LGBT. But they are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. One of them (my sister) she said ¨Sissy I know ur Pansexual.....but your trynna be in the LGBT at the mud hole but they wont let you because your not Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. Mean sissy if you where still Bisexual than u can come in just fine but your not your Pan. And Pan isnt in the LGBT. Im sorry sissy¨ I was shocked. Mean I wanna be in the LGBT with my sister and the rest of my friends. Standing up for what I believe in. But I dont think what she said was true. I love being Pansexual, I finally got the courage to say im Pan. But this is tickin me off. I wanna know is Pansexual part of the LGBT or not?

Please help.....any advice is apperciated
xx Casper

There is also a + on the end of LGBT, or even people write LGBTQ with the Q being for queer/ questioning. So even though you aren't LGBT, you are still in the community as you come under the + or Q. Basically anything that isn't cisgender, heterosexual, and heteroromantic is in the queer community.

It is in fact! Raven pointed out that LGBTQ+ has the + on the end meaning there are more labels that can be included. The full out acronym is something like LGBTQQIP2SAA, with the P being pansexual, but even I honestly can't remember that full acronym to be completely honest. :nosweat: Basically, as Raven said, anything that isn't cisgender, heterosexual, or heteromantic can fall under the LGBT+ umbrella.

Hey there,

As both Raven and Dez have pointed out, we include the + at the end of LGBTQ+ for the purpose of including as many sexual and gender identities as we can. If we tried to stretch the acronym out to include all of the identities on the spectrum, we'd never be able to get the full thing out! As a pansexual individual, you are still just as much a part of the LGBTQ+ community as you were when you identified as bisexual.

Take care,
Sammi

Hey there,

I don't remember the exact full acronym but it goes something like Dez pointed out. You could google it and show it to your sister so that you don't have to face discrimination from her or anybody else. There definitely is a P in the LGBT+ and you are definitely as much a part of the community as they are. I hope this makes you feel better and not left out. <3

I personally believe it is. I am pansexual as well and I believe I still fit within the LBGT community. :) You're never alone :)
