Doing LGBT-centered essay for school, need help! -
November 25th 2009, 01:12 AM
Okay, so we're supposed to write an argumentative essay in my English class. The topic I chose was " Should schools adopt a program to promote tolerance of LGBT students and provide a safe haven?" [needs work, I know]
Pretty much, I need a few good "why they should"s and "why they shouldn't"s to argue.
My few "they should" reasons are:
high suicide rates among LGBT teens
drug abuse rates
homelessness
[this essay has to be at least 1800 words, so I may need a few more]
We also have to provide solution-type things soooo I need a few reasons as to why schools should be required to provide either LGBT clubs and/or counseling.
If anyone knows of some really good websites to find content for this, please let me know! Or if you have any ideas of subjects to add or would like to be addressed or any documented cases of abuse/injustices at schools or in communities in general, please post them here! I've already got a few good things, but my teacher is expecting at least 8 pages of writing so, the more the merrier, no?
