How can I meet other lesbians/more of the lgbt community?

I'm the only lesbian at my school.
Our 'lgbt' community consists of four people.
  • Me,
  • my two friends Braedyn and Mark (who are dating), and
  • Alexandra (a bi girl who is three years younger than me).
That's it.
I've gone out on three dates with a girl named Michelle. But that didn't work out.
I know two other lesbians outside of school.
  • One of which is my best friend
  • the other an 'enemy' of sorts.

What I want to know is how I can meet more of the queer community.
I would love to meet more lesbians, so I won't feel so lonely all the time.
I have supportive straight friends, but they just don't get it.

I want the chance to meet a girl I can take on dates, really.
I want to know more kids in high school who are struggling with the same things I am.

Our school doesn't have a gsa.
Braedyn, Mark, and I had tried to start one at the beginning of the semester, but we were quickly shot down.

I don't know how to meet people like me.
Any advice?

Could you look for any sort of LGBT groups outside your school? In England I think we have groups and societies in the wider community as well as in schools, college and uni. Have a look for a gay pride event in your area. That's probably one of the best ways to meet other lesbians and you will have great fun too.

I know it's not exactly the same thing, but there are loads of groups you can join online to make friends and get support. TH is one of them. Meeting people online isn't quite as personal, but you can still make friends and chat with people. You don't have to feel lonely; there are plenty of people out there who I'm sure would love to know you. :)

Are there any decent chat websites where you can meet/talk to other lesbians/bisexuals in a genuine atmosphere? Rather than, "lets swap trashy photos and talk dirty"?

Handgrenadeheart pretty much covered all the suggestions I would give, but I'm just going to touch base on everything anyway.

Looking for groups outside of school is a really great idea. Some areas have community groups, so you might have to look around. They aren't always the easiest to find unfortunately. But there may very well be one near you.

Pride events are also wonderful, but they obviously wouldn't happen as often as a group might meet. That said, they're something.

And yes, of course, online is always an option. Of course, not very personal, but you could talk to other people. I like TeenHelp, personally, because the people here are so friendly and helpful. But there are other places aimed specifically at the LGBT community, like EmptyClosets.
