Too Early? - January 21st 2010, 03:38 AM

I've been with my boyfriend for about 4 months now. I now I'm young (16 in a few weeks), but I really think he could be the one. We have loved each other for much longer than we have been going out, but unofortunately we didn't become a couple right away because we had been really close friends for years before we started going out, and I think we were both scared of what a relationship could do to our friendship.

Anyways, my main question is concerning promise rings. I'm considering talking about this subject with my boyfriend, maybe hinting at it or something. I really want to spend the rest of my life with him. He's everything I could ever want in a guy, and he loves me for me. I'm just wondering if it's too early to be considering this. All of my friends are convinced we'll get married one day, but maybe we just have been an official thing for long enough. Should I wait a little longer, or just go for it?

I push bad thoughts from my mind;
so I can I pull towards what's next;
I realize my past is over;
and hope my future is not as complex;

Personally, I would wait... maybe for your 1-year anniversary? If you're meant to be together for the rest of your lives, then waiting another 8 months won't be a big deal at all. =) Besides, being in a romantic relationship with someone, vs. being a very close friend, are two completely different things. Give it a while, let the "honeymoon phase" end, THEN see how you feel.

Promise rings are great, but I do believe 15 is a little too young. I remember when I was 15 I seriously thought I was going to marry my boyfriend of that time, everyone thought too because we knew each other since we were like 5, but it turned out I didn't. If you really believe you are going to marry him someday why not wait for your 1 year anniversary to get the rings?
Good Luck.!
