Asking "Crush" to be friends online.

Well, there's this girl, whom I had liked, and was sort of friendly towards me in our previous school. Well, I went and got her a card and a rose for Valentine's Day, and then somehow ended up weeping, and after that we never really interacted any more..

So...
I recently found her blog/YouTube and stuff, and, well, I kind of want to get to know her more, we have a lot of common interests and goals and such, and, well.. Iunno.. But we don't go to the same school any more, and we're a bit far. So, even if she did like me, we'd only really be able to be online-friends, for now.

So, uh... How would I go about this? I don't really want to say, "Oh hey we went to school together." But, if I didn't it'd be sort of odd? And then, it'd still probably be awkward...
I'm not very good with this sort of stuff, soo.. Any help would be appreciated. ?_?

I think you should go ahead and just start up a conversation with her. Just remind her who you are and ask her how she is. If you want to get to know her better, then you're going to need to talk to her. It might be a little awkward at first, but once you two start talking that should go away.
