Who said being normal was the way to fit in?
I see all of these originals breaking their skin
They say they're always alone, yet tell their secrets to a best friend
But it seems like one person ain't strong enough to save a life
Yeah it might take more than handing out a few loose dimes
Haven't you seen what she's done to her wrist?
Who knew her weak arms could hold up that many bracelets?
She says she's tryin' so hard to fit in
What about the marching band?
Doesn't she have friends?
Or maybe she's judged because she doesn't believe in a heaven or hell
But let's give a little reminder; it's okay to be yourself
How in the world will she know what's right from wrong?
When every loss comes a brand new song
Oh wait, baby what's taking so long?
In 18 more seconds she'll be already gone
All she tried to do was fit in
Seems like killing herself was the only way like so many other kids did

You see what's cool now? Not believing in yourself
Take a second look America; you're no better than anybody else
Thought I was the only kid that wanted to end it myself
It's no longer about dressing cool
Hell no; it's about who's the first kid to hang themselves from school
Maybe it's not us causing all these problems
Maybe it's the people that raised us or who we look up to as role models
You see that girl with the tiny arms?
She thought fitting in was starving herself; learning the correct way to self harm
You see that honey? You're not alone
Only problem is everybody is trying to make the ground their new home
So of the few that make it past this and grow up to have children
What are you going to tell them for the definition of fitting in
'Cause in 2013 it's not about human rights
Forget that; it's about ending your life
All I tried to do was fit in
Seems like killing myself was the only way like so many other kids did

-Hey guys so this is my poem for suicide prevention week. Like I did last year. I realize I'm about two weeks early, but I felt like sharing this as soon as possible. Sorry its so long. I kind of had this in my head as more like a rap or hip hop kind of thing, but really no music to it. Hope you guys enjoy! I might edit this more once the actual week comes and post it again! Let me know what you guys think please!

~I was always scared of everything, even the carousel.~

~Don't worry about me. I'm sort of feeling fine, but by tomorrow, I'll be back on my feet again.~
