Re: doctor saw my scars - August 7th 2014, 01:19 PM

Hi there and welcome to TeenHelp!

You mentioned that you don't talk to them about this stuff because you're against speaking to adults about these things. If your parents don't already know that, they can probably see or sense your apprehension to talking about this topic. Parents don't often react in the best way; sometimes they are shocked and their initial reaction is to say nothing. Other times they may lecture; it depends on the parent. I definitely think they care, I just think that they are unaware of how they want to face the situation.

You can help them with this by sitting them down and speaking to them about your scars and self-harm. If you're afraid of their reaction, you can do this in a public place. You could also write a note, or see your doctor and ask for his advice. If you tell them how you feel, you'll be able to receive the help that you need and deserve to get through this. You don't have to do this alone.

If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first
