I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get a chance to say goodbye to your friend. It can be upsetting when we wish to get back in contact with someone we care about. The only thing I can suggest is maybe sending them a Private Message in hopes that they might reply when they come back to the site. As Emma mentioned, we do have a whole community that will be more than happy to become friends with you too.
