Re: Do you have a favorite artist? - February 26th 2021, 08:31 AM

Titian is my favourite fine artist; he was the greatest painter of the 16th-century. His artistry depicted the historical times during his life, but painted scenes from biblical stories in great detail, namely hands which are a very difficult, in fact almost impossible to paint in any lifelike detail, but one such portrait was of Pope Paul III in 1546.

Another fascinating part of Titian was discussed later by members of the BBC News, under Culture regarding 'The hidden toilet humour in a Titian masterpiece'. Up to then, I never even had guessed! The author, Kelly Grovier, could actually be right!
