I prefer one to one messaging over group chats. Some of my friends are busy/don't use social media much so I find that for me, there isn't much I can do apart from message them and then wait for a response. Or rather do something other than wait for a response. I might send a quick meme or something I saw that reminded me of them. Other times, I might just write really long messages (I have problems open up to others so if I send a long message then I trust them). I try to be understanding that they aren't going to respond straight away and might not even respond for months at a time. I like to think that one day I'll get to see them face to face again, but in the meantime keeping in touch by private messages will have to do
