That is a total myth.
He got them removed because he got beat up and they were broken so badly they had to be removed.
He said so in his autobiography.

Also I doubt removing a rib would allow you to give yourself a blow job.

It is possible, if a man is super flexible or has a larger penis. It is usually guys that do gymnastics or yoga that can do this.
