These things do require more than just medication. In fact, Cutting isn't something you medicate at all. And Depression and Bipolar contradict one another, so being medicated for both would make no sense. But that's not the point.

The point is, with treatment of any mental illness, its a combination of Medications and Therapy. They'll reduce, or even eliminate the therapy, when they think you're ready for such. I have a friend who has Severe Depression, and is on medications. He used to go to therapy, but when things became manageable (NOT cureable, obviously), it decreased, and now he doesn't need therapy at all anymore. He still takes his antidepressants, but he's perfectly fine.

So, perhaps going to therapy as well would help you feel better. Sure, you don't like reaching out for help, but isn't that what you're doing by taking medications anyways?
