As for your parents, call a meeting and talk to them about it calmly so they know your serious. You never know they might say yes.

It took me a year to finally convince my parents to let me get my first dog, and now they love dogs as much as I do.
Also, I got my kitty by accident. Someone left her on my doorstep when she was too young to even be away from her mom. Maybe you get yours the same way?
