That's understandable.. sometimes, when they don't know how to deal with something, people pretend nothing's wrong or that everything's okay, in the hopes the problem will resolve itself. Like if you bottle it back and keep it locked away, it won't be a problem anymore, you know? That's how parents cope sometimes, not because they don't care, but because they don't know how best to help and because it can be difficult to understand. It can be difficult to understand.

What if you brought your mom to a counseling session? Have a session where you and your mom can talk about your habits and the abuse, how it's affected you and how you feel about your mum's reaction to it? Your counselor can be like a mediator, to help your mom understand what's going through your head and to explain things that you might not be able to. Adults can be more likely to listen to other adults, especially when it comes to something this big. That might be worth giving a try.
